Training will be provided in handling traffic through the National Traffic System as well as many other areas of emcomm training. The Department of Homeland Security now requires that everyone with a direct role in emergency and incident management and response, including radio operators take NIMS and ICS training. These courses are offered on-line and there is no fee to take these courses or to become certified. These are self-study courses and anyone interested in becoming a member of Cleveland County ARES is strongly encouraged to become certified in these courses as according to the NC ARES Plan, these are required. Click Here to go to FEMA's Website to take these courses - http://training.fema.gov/IS/ IS 100, 200, 700 For ARES Operators and for those who will communicate on the behalf of Emergency Management IS 800. If you are already involved in Law Enforcement and or Emergency Services you may have already taken these courses. Should you have your certificate please notify your EC when these courses have been satisfied. The FEMA Courses are required to be in compliance with the Department of Homeland Security. Members without the FEMA Certification will be under a non-certified classification and cannot be deployed to EOC, Shelters and other various posts. Once FEMA Certification has been acquired and proof given to the EC, the member will then be placed in Certified status and may then be deployed to EOC, Shelters and various other posts. |
